IN MEMORIAM

“You do not die,
you just change form.
You are divine,
As is everything.
Shirley MacLaine, 1984

The following artistes, some known, some unknown, have exited stage left – permanently. They contributed, each in their own way, to the enjoyment of theatre, television and film audiences whilst they were alive. They were members of an honourable tribe: the professional performer (some dancers, some actors, some skaters, and some choreographers and directors). And we remember them with pride. They contributed to the artistic life of their time. They are not forgotten. Their talent, enthusiasm and presence still enhances our lives today. They are part of our history, and we of their’s.

This is a personal list, unique to this website.

The men and women below, were either colleagues, friends, teachers, relatives, and in some cases, employers, of men and women who receive the website newsletter. We remember them all with a grateful smile.

Fame is a food that dead men eat, –
I have no stomach for such meat.
In little light and narrow room,
They eat it in the silent tomb,
With no kind voice of Comrade near
To bid the feaster be of cheer.

But Friendship is a nobler thing, –
Of Friendship it is good to sing.
For truly, when a man shall end,
He lives in memory of his friend,
Who doth his better part recall
And of his fault make funeral.

Austin Dobson, 1840-1921
